Project Objectives
The Project aims to complete a Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) study to inform the decisions to be made regarding the proposed project to be constructed which could consist of a 400-kilometre transportation line and up to 1 gigatonne cumulative sequestration hub in Alberta which could further enable the construction of more than 20 oil sands capture facilities (14 by 2030).
Expected Results
The Project is expected to :
- Reduce net carbon dioxide emissions by about 13.9 Mt CO2 capture of up to 4.2 Mt CO2/y by 2030 and 62 Mt CO2/y by 2050.
- Create new jobs for Canadians and support future CCUS developments in Alberta.
- Lead to the creation of a first of a kind CO2 network in Alberta enabling the construction of CO2 capture facilities at oil sands assets, and the resulting CO2 transportation and sequestration.
