Project Objectives
The objective of this project is to complete the geophysical analysis, pipeline right of way, and front-end engineering and design assessment required to approve further investment into the capture of CO¬2¬ from the Minnedosa Ethanol production facility.
Specifically, the project will consist of the following 3 activities:
- Drill an appraisal well to de-risk the geological formation and confirm the geophysical properties in the Red River area. Utilize the appraisal well for monitoring as part of the project’s measurement, monitoring and verification (MMV).
- Undergo geophysical testing of the appraisal well and gather core samples in the well bore area.
- Complete the FEED Study for the plant.
Expected Results
The project will create new jobs for Canadians and support future CCUS developments in Manitoba, as there are currently no reservoirs used for CO2 sequestration in the province.
The FEED and Appraisal Well will deliver the required cost estimate, engineering deliverables, scope certainty, and geological information required to execute the plant.
As well, the project will greatly improve the work processes for carbon capture and sequestration projects by advancing internal knowledge and through the practical application of principles to an actual development.
