Project Objectives
The objective of this project is to develop a network independent, single access point solution for Electric Vehicle (EV) drivers to access and pay for any EV station using a single account. This will improve functionality and interoperability of management systems for the EV charging infrastructure.
The project enables seamless use of the EV charging infrastructure, including charging account management, activation and payment services when travelling anywhere in Canada.
The system will initially be deployed with a limited number of stations/networks in a constrained area. User recruitment will primarily take place through EV point of sale of partner automakers, through partner utility and networks communication channels, and via ChargeHub’s existing user base. Once validated the next phase will integrate more stations and networks into the system.
Expected Results
The project will result in addressing barriers to effective deployment of EV charging infrastructure, such as interoperability, ease of access for EV drivers to charging infrastructure and improved business case for public charging deployment.
This project will develop a charging infrastructure that can be used by all EV drivers, regardless of EV make or model. All public EV drivers will be able to use the same access and payment methods, and will provide charging station owners/operators/solution providers a new revenue stream without adversely impacting ongoing processes.
