Project Objectives
The Société Kuujuamiut Inc. is pursuing a number of clean energy projects in the community of Kuujjuaq including a 100kW roof-top solar project and a geo-thermal heating project at the community arena, a feasibility study to assess the potential of additional community-scale green energy projects, the installation of two electric vehicle charging stations, and installing solar powered energy systems for cabins.
Expected Results
It is anticipated that the project will significantly reduce diesel use, operating costs for the Kuujjuaq Forum and increase electrical vehicle accessibility within the community of Kuujjuaq. Through collaboration and partnerships with the Nayumivik Landholding Corporation and the Municipality of Kuujjuaq this project is a true blend of Indigenous innovation and traditional land-based practices.
