Project Objectives
The NunatuKavut Community Council is pursing three energy projects in the Inuit communities of St. Lewis and Black Tickle in NunatuKavut, Labrador. These projects include implementing a Home Energy Retrofit Program, a High Efficiency Woodstove Program, and advancing two solar pilot projects in participating communities.
Expected Results
These three projects are anticipated to bring many benefits to the communities of St. Lewis and Black Tickle. These benefits include (but are not limited to): climate change mitigation through reduced diesel consumption; improved air quality; and local economic development opportunities, including training and job creation activities. This project demonstrates the many local benefits that arise from implementing renewable energy projects in Indigenous communities.
