Project Objectives
The Heiltsuk Economic Development Corp. is engaging with residents of Haíɫzaqv Nation to create a community clean energy plan aimed to reduce dependency on burning fossil fuels for heat and power; reclaim their relationship with the environment; bring the community back in line with Haíɫzaqv Gvi’ilas; create a long-term community vision, grounded in the community’s needs and wants; improve Haíɫzaqv health and safety; and promote innovation and build a green economy in the community.
Expected Results
Through engagement, education, and training, a Community Energy Vision will be developed and the project will provide community members with training and capacity building to increase knowledge and skills around negotiation governance, conservation, wood-based power and heat, energy efficiency, and clean energy.
