Project Objectives
The objective of this project is to scale Aurora’s microwave methane pyrolysis technology from bench to commercial scale. This technology is cost-competitive with steam methane reforming, does not consume water, and requires less electricity than other pyrolysis techniques.
Expected Results
This project aims to:
- Provide environmental benefits such as GHG emission reductions, clean hydrogen production and zero water consumption.
- Produce valuable carbon products.
- Support Canada’s energy sector sustainability and workforce resilience.
- Support Canada’s commitment to lower GHG emissions perf the Paris Agreement.
- Develop a scalable, clean and cost-effective hydrogen production technique to meet Canada’s future hydrogen demand.
- Create valuable graphite with versatile applications.
- Generate revenue, increase export sales, boost research and development, and encourage capital investment in Canadian technology.
- Cultivate highly qualified personnel and professional jobs.
