Project Objectives

This project aims to support remote Indigenous communities working to advance clean energy initiatives and reduce their diesel consumption by providing capacity building activities targeted to climate and energy policy support.

Expected Results

This project is expected to:

  1. Breakthrough progress toward ambitious reduction of reliance on diesel across Canada.
  2. Increase Indigenous support and buy-in for diesel reduction allowing for greater and more sustainable impact.
  3. Support the Government of Canada’s commitment to reconciliation and its obligations toward Indigenous rights to self-determination.
  4. Support Indigenous leadership and context in the area of clean energy and diesel reduction.
  5. A more robust and active Indigenous clean energy ecosystem that creates socio-economic opportunities for remote communities and collectives.
