Arbios Moving Forward with Low Carbon Biofuels Plant in BC

Lead Proponent

Canfor Pulp Ltd.

Project Objectives

The project will execute a FEED study to support a commercial scale demonstration plant to produce advanced biofuels that can be used as a liquid transportation fuel.

Using patented Catalytic Hydrothermal Reactor (Cat-HTRTM) technology, the project will convert materials such as hog fuel and other wood byproducts into a low-carbon biocrude, which can be mixed into other fuels.

Expected Results

The low carbon biofuels produced will support Canada’s GHG reduction targets and the Clean Fuel Standard with a made-in-Canada solution.

Anticipated Environmental Benefits: The biofuels will have a significantly lower carbon intensity that conventional fossil fuels, with approximately 80% lower GHG emissions.
