Project Objectives
The objective of this Project is to validate the cost effectiveness of undertaking a deep energy retrofit of the Gordon Bell High School through a FEED study of this aging school in downtown Winnipeg, MN.
The FEED study will consist of
- an energy audit and air tightness tests at the school
- developing a calibrated energy model of the school to evaluate the effects of different upgrade pathways
- planning activities around final choice of energy retrofit measures
The primary goal of this project will be to confirm that the energy consumption of the school can be reduced by at least 50% and that a payback period of 20 years or less can be achieved.
Expected Results
The knowledge gained through the FEED study will be used to develop a framework to guide deep energy retrofits of schools and other buildings within the province as well as across Canada, along with developing a Retrofit Guide to assist the province and industry stakeholders with similar projects going forward.
