Project Background
The aim of the Deep Energy Retrofit of JET Building FEED study is to demonstrate the viability of deep energy retrofits on a large office building that is commonly found throughout Canada to determine optimal pathways to achieve >50% Energy and GHG reductions targeting a payback of 20 years or better.
Results
The project will identify replicable, cost-effective pathways for achieving deep energy reductions in office buildings and will provide the business case for deep energy reductions in that could be replicated by the different stakeholders and inform further projects and policies.
The results of the project are:
- A detailed FEED study highlighting pathways to energy reduction for the building
- The decision to go ahead with the deep energy retrofit identified in the FEED study
- Potential replication on other office buildings
Benefits to Canada
- Replicable deep energy retrofit for office buildings in Ottawa and in Canada
Next Steps
- Completion of the Deep Energy Retrofit
- Knowledge dissemination of the lessons learned
