Managers and owners

A building’s energy performance has an impact not only on the energy bills and operation costs, but also on property value, occupant productivity and operational activities. By constantly improving the functioning of their buildings, owners and managers can reduce operation costs, make their company more cost-effective and gain a competitive market advantage.

A Profitable Investment

To optimize a building’s energy performance, it is in the best interest of owners and managers to use recommissioning (RCx), commissioning (Cx) and ongoing commissioning (Cx) as cost-effective methods to reduce spending and increase revenue owing to a more rational operation of their buildings.

Recommissioning

Recommissioning (RCx) optimizes existing buildings to improve occupant comfort and save energy. Used within a business strategy, RCx can have many benefits. CanmetENERGY has several tools and services to help building managers and owners undertake RCx projects including:

Ongoing Commissioning

A building’s optimal performance can be maintained after a commissioning (Cx) or a recommissioning (RCx) project with strategies such as ongoing commissioning (Cx).

To help building managers and owners with ongoing Cx projects, CanmetENERGY developed the DABOTM software application, which continuously monitors a building’s electromechanical components. To date, use of the software has yielded energy savings of 10 to 25% in the buildings in which it has been installed.

Commissioning

Commissioning (Cx) is a process that ensures that the new building functions as the owner initially intended and that the building staff can operate the building and ensure its maintenance.

For a successful Cx project, CanmetENERGY offers managers and owners a Cx guide for the various stages of building construction – from design to post-construction.
