Every R-2000 home is built by a licensed R-2000 builder. To earn the R-2000 designation, your builder invests in R-2000 training and then keeps up to date through refresher courses.

If you are looking to buy an R-2000 home, look for the R-2000 mark when you are shopping around. Ensure your builder is R-2000 licensed by Natural Resources Canada. Only homes built by NRCan R-2000-licensed builders can be R-2000 certified.

How do I know my home meets the R-2000 standard?

When builders build an R-2000 home, the following occurs:

• The plans for your new R-2000 home are independently reviewed, computer analysed, and verified before construction.
• Your home will undergo inspections by an R-2000 professional during construction. These inspections are in addition to those a building inspector does.
• Once completed, your R-2000 home will be tested by licensed technicians to ensure that it performs as specified. After all inspections and tests have been passed, your R-2000 home is certified by the Government of Canada and is awarded the R-2000 label.
