Upstream Methane Abatement Toolbox
During COP28, the Net-Zero Producers Forum member countries launched an Upstream Methane Abatement Toolbox.
The toolbox provides information on measures taken so far and lessons learned in implementing methane-abatement technologies. Its goal is to highlight existing and planned methane-abatement policies, resources and initiatives across the member countries.
The toolbox will benefit the NPF group and others interested in learning from our experiences with methane reduction. Reducing methane emissions is critical to slowing and limiting the impacts of climate change and achieving net zero by 2050.

Net-Zero Producers Forum
The Net-Zero Producers Forum is a platform for oil and gas–producing countries to discuss how the sector can support the implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change and the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
The forum, established in 2021, includes six major producer countries — Canada, the United States of America, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates — which together account for over 40 percent of global oil and gas production.
