Description |
The SD Tech FundTM provides financial support to projects for the development and demonstration of innovative Canadian technological solutions that address climate change, clean air, clean water and clean soil. As of March 31, 2016 the Fund had been allocated $915 million in Government of Canada funding: $550 million has been provided through up-front multi-year grants and an additional $365 million has been made available in the form of contributions, of which $12 million has been provided to SDTC. Government funding to SDTC’s SD Tech Fund™ has been provided in equal amounts by NRCan and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC)*. |
Results achieved |
As in previous years, two call for proposals and two funding rounds were completed by SDTC in 2015-16 resulting in future allocations totalling $125 million to new or existing projects. SDTC raised awareness of its available funds by hosting workshops and participating in sectoral and regional outreach activities. The Foundation also launched two new initiatives: a joint Cleantech initiative with the Climate Change and Emissions Management Corporation (CCEMC); and a joint call for expressions of interest for water technology projects with Alberta Innovates Energy and Environment Solutions (AI-EES). |
