Project Outcomes

As part of the Impact Canada The Sky’s the Limit Challenge, SAF+ Consortium developed an innovative circular economy solution that captures industry emissions and transforms them into clean synthetic fuel with 80% less carbon footprint than conventional jet fuel. With their partners Air Transat and Trudeau Airport, SAF+ Consortium aims to make Montreal into a leading hub for sustainable flying.

SAF Consortium has gained market prospects from the development of their synthetic fuel production as an ideal transition decarbonization strategy for the aviation sector. This is partly because of the rapid development of green hydrogen across the country. Hydrogen produced from renewable electricity is one of the steps in their circular economy solution.

Currently, SAF Consortium is developing their Power to Liquids SAF and plans to bring this product to the market by 2025/2026.

“The rapid development of green hydrogen across the country will favour e-SAF production as an ideal transition decarbonization strategy for the aviation sector. There is a bright future ahead! The market prospects are enormous and the need for qualified personnel will increase exponentially.” – The team at SAF+ Consortium
