Retrospective about Natural Resources Canada

Transcript

Canada’s abundance of natural resources — our natural advantage — has forged our history and created opportunity for generations of Canadians.

It began with our forerunner, the Geological Survey of Canada, established before Confederation, which took stock of our mineral wealth and observed our country’s soils and waters.

Over the years, as Canada grew, so did the organizations devoted to natural resources.

From these roots, Natural Resources Canada was formed in 1994.

Fast forward 25 years, and NRCan today is home to Canada’s leading scientists, researchers, and experts in policy, data and AI.

Canada’s energy sector is reducing emissions from each barrel of oil it produces…

Investing in the world’s lowest carbon-emitting LNG facility.

And expanding what is already the cleanest electricity mix… in the world.

Our wood fibre is used to strengthen composite car parts and make vehicles lighter;

tallwood buildings are replacing concrete skyscrapers;

and our mines produce many of the raw materials used in solar panels, wind turbines and batteries that power our electric vehicles.

We are supported by our scientific research facilities

from coast

Focused on harnessing the power of data, artificial intelligence and disruptive technology to take Canada’s natural advantage to the next level

Ushering in Canada’s new resource economy and a low-carbon future.

That’s Natural Resources Canada today — and tomorrow.

Welcome home.
