Pre-publication in the Canada Gazette, Part I

Amendment 18 to the Energy Efficiency Regulations was pre-published in the Canada Gazette, Part I on June 22, 2024. Natural Resources Canada encourages you to submit your comments online using the new commenting feature on the Canada Gazette, Part I website. You can submit comments at any point throughout the 70-day period, but early submission will allow for early analysis of any potential changes to the proposal to address concerns.

Please note that the following technical standards documents are proposed to be incorporated by reference in the Energy Efficiency Regulations, 2016 via Amendment 18. The proposed technical standards documents are subject to the same 70-day comment period as the rest of the amendment and generic information about these type of documents are available on the regulatory process page.

Pre-consultation in advance of pre-publication in Canada Gazette

Webinars for affected products were hosted in June 2022, with technical bulletins released in July 2022, to initiate the public consultation process.

Forward Regulatory Plan (April 2022)

NRCan first indicated its intention to move forward with Amendments 18 in its Forward Regulatory Plan published in April 2022, which was updated in June 2022 and April 2023 to reaffirm NRCan’s intent to follow through with Amendment 18.
