Liette Vasseur is the Associate Vice-president, Research at Laurentian University. Previously, she was full professor at the University of Moncton where she held the K.C. Irving Research Chair in Sustainable Development since August 2001. Her strong research program includes climate change, sustainable development, community-based ecosystem management, and conservation. She is involved in many different scholarly and professional activities and is a member of the Commission in Ecosystem Management of IUCN, DFO Science Advisory Council, the Ocean Management Research Network, Nickel District Conservation Authority and the Sudbury Mayor's Expert Panel on Health. She is an Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal of Botany. She holds a B.Sc. in Ecology from the Université de Sherbrooke, a M.Sc. in Biology at UQAM, and a Ph.D. in Biology from Queen's University.

Norm Catto is a Professor of Geography at Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John's, NL. His research interests include natural hazards, response of coasts and river systems to climate and weather events; flood risk assessment; mass movements and slope failures; geomorphic processes in permafrost, arctic, and northern boreal environments; sea level change; aeolian geomorphology and anthropogenic stresses on dune systems; palaeosol development over time; and the impacts of climate and weather events to transportation, fisheries, and communities. He is the editor-in-chief of Quaternary International, a professional international journal dedicated to the study of landscape evolution and climate variation throughout the past 3 million years; and serve on the editorial boards of Quaternary Science Reviews and Episodes.
