About the Council

Our vision

The Council aims to be a space for interaction and discussion between youth and decision makers including the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Canada, a place where the voices of Canada’s youth inform Natural Resources Canada (NRCan)’s work to deliver results on climate and resources management.

Council members may provide input on particular topics, based on:

  • Their school, work and life experience.
  • Their research and volunteer experience.

Create a space for a diverse group of youth from across Canada to connect and discuss the country’s most pressing issues related to natural resources issues.

What we want to focus on

The Council serves to connect and discuss Canada’s most pressing climate and natural resource issues, such as energy, green buildings, Indigenous partnerships, and sustainable jobs. Here are examples of topics that could be discussed: better understand youth opinions, awareness, and knowledge of the energy transition, including how to respond and be resilient to increasing climate change impacts; how to attract youth in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education programs related to the natural resource sector; etc.
