Amendment 8 was pre-published on February 14, 2004 in the Canada Gazette, Part I. 

This amendment addresses the energy efficiency of dishwashers, clothes washers, storage water heaters, chillers, and exit signs.

Effective dates

• effective immediately: water heaters, dishwashers, efficiency standard for clothes washers
• effective October 29, 2004: chillers
• effective November 1, 2004: internally lighted exit signs
• effective January 1, 2007: increased efficiency standard for clothes washers
