Process integration is a highly effective approach to reducing energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions in large and complex industrial facilities with energy-intensive systems.

To promote the use of process integration within Canadian industry, CanmetENERGY and its partners offer an on-site visiting service so as to increase awareness of process integration benefits and illustrate concrete measures that can be applied to specific processes in order to improve their energy efficiency.

The on-site visiting service is offered in collaboration with the Bureau de l’efficacité et de l’innovation énergétiques and is only available in the province of Quebec.

Site Visit and Preliminary Analysis

When visiting industrial facilities, CanmetENERGY process integration experts can:

• Provide managers and engineers with detailed information of what process integration entails, and of the potential energy savings that can be generated through its application
• Explain why process integration studies are more beneficial than traditional energy analyses that solely focus on specific and isolated parts of a process
• Provide concrete examples of the plant’s energy saving opportunities which would benefit from a site-wide analysis. At this stage, preliminary process integration studies can be conducted by the CanmetENERGY team
• Share information about the different programs available to assist plants in carrying out process integration studies and implementing energy-saving measures
