Remote Sensing Software and Tools

Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS) scientists have created a variety of tools to assist in the processing and use of satellite imagery and data.

Polarimetric Workstation:

The Polarimetric Workstation (PWS) is a user-friendly and efficient software package for the extraction of polarization information from Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data. Based on more than 25 years of polarimetric research, PWS is foremost an educational tool designed to introduce new users to the complex basis of polarimetry. The PWS allows users to analyse SAR data with popular, validated polarimetric techniques such as Poincaré Sphere representation, Van Zyl coefficient of variation, as well as the Cloude-Pottier and Touzi target scattering decompositions.
