Remote Sensing Sensors and Methods
In Remote Sensing Science, satellite imagery is acquired by recording radiation reflected back to space using a variety of space-borne sensors. The Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS) focuses its research and development activities on data collected by sensors in the following categories:
Each of these sensor classes provides unique and often complementary information about the Earth’s surface for land, water, infrastructure and natural hazards applications. CCRS scientists work to ensure that the data collected is of the highest quality and can be effectively transformed into useful information about Canada’s landmass.
In addition to transforming data from existing satellite sensors, CCRS scientists are actively preparing for the next generation of satellite sensors of relevance to Canadians.
