Pre-publication in the Canada Gazette, Part I
Amendment 19 to the Energy Efficiency Regulations was pre-published in the Canada Gazette, Part I on June 20, 2026. Natural Resources Canada encourages submission of comments online using the commenting feature on the Canada Gazette, Part I website. Comments can be submitted at any point throughout the 70-day period. Early submission of comments is welcomed and appreciated.
Pre-consultation in advance of pre-publication in Canada Gazette
In 2022 and 2023, Notices of Intent were published in the Canada Gazette, Part I to inform stakeholders of NRCan regulatory plans on household appliances based on pre-consultations that occurred in May 2021.
Webinars for other affected products were hosted in June 2024, with technical bulletins released in July 2024, to initiate the public consultation process. The archived bulletins relating to Amendment 19 are available by request. To obtain a copy, please contact us by e-mail.
Forward Regulatory Plan (April 2024)
NRCan first indicated its intention to move forward with Amendments 19 in its Forward Regulatory Plan published in April 2024, which was re-affirmed in September 2025 and April 2026, and the current Forward Regulatory Plan 2026 to 2028.
